Notes do not display foreign characters?
(Sorry, I first posted this in the iPhone forum by mistake, please delete it from there.)

Hi,

thanks for Families, it's a wonderful app on my new Samsung I9000 with Android 2.2.

I have a 10,000+ name family file from Legacy 7.5 with lots of Swedish and German names and places, such as Södergården and Älvsborg. These all display fine in the Families app on the Android when they are names and places, but when these characters appear in a person's General or Research Notes, they are corrupted. I assume it's some character set problem? My phone is set up for German.

Does anyone know if this will be fixed soon?

Thanks, Bob

Thanks for reporting this problem. The text is actually displayed as a web page in order to display character attributes like bold, italic etc which may be present in the Legacy data. As you suspected, the problem was caused by an incorrect encoding type being used for the web page. This will be fixed in the next version. Meanwhile note that the foreign characters are displayed correctly if you tap the Edit button, as the text is then displayed as an editable TextView rather than a WebView.

Hi Malcolm,

thanks for the quick reply and the workaround.
