Confusions in editing

I had to stop using Families on my HTC Desire, as it reacts in a confusing way: (1) the index can not be used (see separate thread), and (2) there are unexpected automatic changes following the editing: any edited female item changes into male and gives no chance to be turned back to the right gendre.
