Synching Legacy to Android Devices
I have two Android devices: Samsung Captivate Phone and a Toshiba Thrive Tablet. I've tried in both cases to Synch the same GEDCOM file. Using Families Sync I've created an Sqlite file and using file manager I've added a Families folder on the SD card of both devices. I then copied the Sqlite file to the Families folder on both devices.
In the case of both devices, I keep getting the sample Kennedy file as the only data file to choose. Should the Families Sync program create the Families folder on the SD cards? What else am I doing wrong? Thank you |

The app itself creates the Families folder, which is where the Kennedy file is located. If you don't see your family file, it's probably because your device has both an internal and external sd card and Families is currently accessing the internal card, whereas it needs to use the external one. Go to the settings view (Menu>Settings) and change the Base Folder value from /sdcard to /sdcard/sd for the Captivate. I'm not sure of the setting for the Thrive, but if this value doesn't work, run a file manager app on the device and it will show you how the external sd card is named. Malcolm Green |

Now, should I expect synching between the desktop and the Android devices to work with Family Sync? Is there anything else I need to do? George |
