Some of the newer Android devices have both an internal and an external SD card. Applications, including Families, will generally default to using the internal SD card. However, when transferring files to the device via USB, the files will be written to the external SD card, and hence will not be visible to the app.

To resolve the problem, you need to know the name by which the external SD card is known, and set the Families settings option "Base Folder" to this value. The following are the names for the external SD card for various devices:

Samsung Galaxy S2: /mnt/sdcard/external_sd
Samsung Galaxy S3: /mnt/extSdCard
Samsung Galaxy Note: /storage/extSdCard
Asus Transformer: /Removable/MicroSD
Motorola Atrix 4G: /mnt/sdcard-ext
Motorola Droid Razr M: /mnt/sdcard-ext

If you have this problem and your device is not listed above, run a file manager app (your device may come with one pre-installed or there are several free ones available in Android Market, e.g. Astro). Navigate to the external SD card and note the name by which it is displayed.

If you discover names for external SD cards which are not listed above, we'd appreciate if you could drop an email to support@telgen.co.uk so that we can update the list.

If you have a Motorola Xoom, the external SD card can only be read, not written (this may change in a later version). In this case you need to transfer your sqlite file to "Internal Storage" rather than to the SD card.
