Ok, my network settings have been fixed. Lots of "digging" in my firewall but Families Sync now sees my iPod Touch. However, the file transfer is still stalling.

On the iPod Touch the screen says "Reading from PC: 2.71 MB/2.71 MB". Families Sync on the PC says "Writing Brown to Terris-iPod:2.71 MB/2.71 MB". The progress bar is not quite to the end and it has been sitting like that for about 20 minutes now. Families Sync is no longer responding. I tapped "Done" on the Touch to return to the database window. Families Sync will shortly be giving me a message that a connection that was expected to be open was lost. Same result no matter what Legacy file I try.

Windows update shows no updates available, iTunes is up-to-date as is Families and Families Sync. There is about 19GB free on the Touch. I'm going to reread the original post, but I believe I have tried all the same steps.

Thanks for the help.
Terri

We're looking into possible causes of this problem. Meanwhile please try the following workaround to get your file transferred:

- Select the Sync screen on the iPod Touch.
- In a browser on the PC, browse to the address displayed on the iPod Touch.
- You should see a page headed "Family Files" - click the Browse button and navigate to the (My) Documents\FamiliesSync folder where you should see the file to be transferred (with a .sqlite extension). Double-click this file then click the Upload button. The file should be uploaded to the iPod Touch.
- If the file uploaded successfully then on exiting the Sync screen you should see it in the list of family files.

Also can you install a special version of Families Sync from http://www.telgen.co.uk/families/downloa...ublish.htm and try the transfer with this. It logs tracing information and may help to pinpoint the problem.

I will try both and report back. The version of Families Sync that logs tracing info sounds like a good idea and this is why . . .

I managed to (accidentally) transfer 3 files yesterday after my last post. Instead of tapping "Done" in the iPod when Families Sync stalled, I clicked the X in the upper right corner to close the program on my PC. Then a window came up asking what I wanted to do, so I chose "Try to restore program". Windows 7 restored the program, the file finished transferring to the iPod and I now have 3 files on my iPod. Of course this generates an error message in Families Sync but the end result is that the files were successfully transferred. It's not right, but it works. Huh

RE: File upload hangs
The latest update of Families Sync (1.1.1.3) resolved the issue. All Legacy files are on the iPod with no problems. Great program! Thanks! Big Grin
